This represents significant progress—a growing consensus among practitioners that laboratory accelerated aging can only simulate selected environmental factors and their combinations, but cannot replicate the synergistic effects of light, heat, oxygen, rainfall, and extreme temperature differentials in the real world. Only long-term exposure to authentic natural environments can truly reveal the performance evolution of materials throughout their entire life cycle and safeguard the fundamental safety of buildings. For Baiyun Technology, however, this scientific quest on "time and quality" began as early as 29 years ago. 01 1997: The Starting Point of the World's First 50-Year Durability Test In the 1990s, China's curtain wall industry was still in its ascendant phase, and "how many years can silicone sealants actually last" remained a core unresolved question across the industry. At that time, the industry widely relied on short-term laboratory accelerated aging data for product validation, which could not provide reliable assurance for the decades-long service life of buildings. As the pioneer of China's silicone sealant industry, Baiyun Technology fully understood that sealants are the "invisible lifeline" of building curtain walls, and their durability is directly related to the safety of the entire structure. In 1997, Baiyun Technology resolutely erected the first full-scale test curtain wall at its factory premises, officially launching the world's first 50-Year Durability Test research program for silicone sealants. The first full-scale test curtain wall in China, erected by Baiyun Technology in 1997 02 Authoritative Collaboration: Strengthening the Credibility of Scientific Data The vitality of scientific research lies in objectivity and impartiality. In 2012, Baiyun Technology partnered with the most authoritative institution in the field of material aging in China—the Aging Research Institute of Guangzhou Synthetic Materials Research Institute—to launch joint research efforts. The first batch of test specimens was placed at the Guangzhou exposure site (relocated in 2016 to Shanwei, Guangdong, which features more pronounced hot-humid climatic characteristics) and the National Dry-Hot Environment Test Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (Turpan, Xinjiang). Since then, the 50-Year Durability Test has been elevated from a corporate research initiative to an industry-level joint research project: all test protocols, specimen placement, data collection, and analysis have been carried out jointly by both parties, with third-party oversight throughout the process, ensuring that every data set is authentic, traceable, and verifiable. 03 Global Footprint: Building a Systematic Research Framework Across Multiple Climatic Zones Scientific research has demonstrated that different climatic factors and their combinations exert significantly different effects and mechanisms on the aging of polymeric materials. Therefore, weathering test results from a single location can only reflect the performance changes of that product under that specific climate, and conclusions cannot be simply extrapolated to regions with markedly different climatic characteristics. Only systematic testing covering typical extreme climate zones worldwide can comprehensively evaluate the full-climate adaptability of sealants and provide precise material selection guidance for buildings in different geographical regions. Over the past 29 years, our research network has steadily expanded—from Guangzhou to Turpan, and further to Arizona and Florida in the United States—progressively covering typical extreme climates worldwide. Throughout the testing process, we have accumulated a vast amount of data, convened results symposia at the 5-year and 10-year milestones, and published special issues, openly sharing the research findings with the entire industry without reservation. 04 Comparative Testing: Empirical Evidence Exposing Formulation Safety Hazards In Baiyun's weathering exposure program, comparative curtain wall tests were specifically designed, featuring both mineral-oil-filled and non-mineral-oil-filled sealants in side-by-side configurations. The results showed that the insulating glass in contact with Baiyun weatherproofing sealants exhibited no significant changes, whereas the insulating glass in contact with mineral-oil-filled weatherproofing sealants showed dissolution of the butyl sealant. Baiyun has always believed that the leadership of a single enterprise does not constitute true progress—only the advancement of the entire industry counts. From a single wall in 1997, to collaborations with authoritative institutions in 2012, and then to a global weathering exposure network; from continuous knowledge dissemination at the 5-year and 10-year milestones, to empirical evidence exposing the hazards of mineral-oil-filled sealants— Baiyun Technology, with nearly 30 years of sustained investment, is steadily approaching the ultimate answer. The 50-Year Durability Test is still ongoing. Baiyun Technology explores boundaries through science, and validates value through time.

Behind this prohibition lies a long-standing systemic quality hazard caused by "mineral-oil-filled sealants" in construction projects: hardening, embrittlement, shrinkage, cracking of the sealant, oil migration in insulating glass units, rainbow film, condensation and water accumulation, and even external pane detachment from curtain wall glass – all of which are safety incidents. The upgrade of regulations marks that the issue of "mineral-oil-filled sealants" has escalated from an industry unspoken rule to a public safety concern that must be confronted. Industry Warning: Clustered Outbreaks of Industry Malpractices in Multiple Regions As competition in the construction industry intensifies, in recent years many building projects have experienced similar quality problems, mainly manifested as premature seal failure in insulating glass units within just a few years, leading to condensation, water accumulation, and in some cases even oil migration and rainbow film (as shown in Figure 1). ▲ Figure 1 Oil migration (left) and rainbow film (right) in insulating glass units ▲ Figure 2 Condensation and water accumulation in insulating glass units This type of failure is not only related to the durability of the sealant itself, but also to the long-term compatibility between the sealant and the contacting materials. The root cause of such problems is the addition of alkane plasticizers (mineral oil) to the sealant formulation in order to reduce costs! Tracing the Truth: The Migration Nature of Volatile Plasticizing Components Why do mineral-oil-filled sealants cause such serious quality issues? This must be understood from their chemical nature and migration characteristics. Although mineral-oil-filled sealants may initially appear elastic, because the molecular structure of mineral oil differs significantly from that of silicone polymers, it is incompatible with the silicone system [1]. Over time, the mineral oil migrates and volatilizes from the sealant, causing the sealant to shrink and harden, which subsequently leads to cracking, debonding, and other problems. To study the progression of this problem, Baiyun Technology, within the framework of the "50-Year Durability Test", specifically designed comparative test protocols to conduct long-term continuous monitoring of sealant performance across different specimens and different environmental conditions, including mineral-oil-filled sealants. During this continuous monitoring, we found that the performance degradation curve of mineral-oil-filled sealants exhibits a unique and severe pattern. ▲ Figure 3 Comparative test curtain wall for mineral-oil-filled sealants (Turpan) Empirical Data: Performance Degradation Between the Two Formulations Is Worlds Apart Research data from the Guangzhou Baiyun 50-Year Durability Test for silicone structural sealants show that silicone structural sealant specimens without mineral oil and with excellent overall performance (e.g., Specimens A and B), exposed to different climatic conditions (G: Guangdong, O: Indoor, T: Turpan), exhibited some variation in tensile strength and elongation at maximum strength, but overall remained relatively stable [2], as shown in Figure 4. ▲ Figure 4 Tensile strength and elongation at maximum strength of Specimens A and B as a function of aging time However, mineral-oil-filled sealants age very rapidly. They begin to harden within six months, reaching a hardness of 70 within two years, and are highly prone to cracking in the later stage. In contrast, mineral-oil-free sealants, even after ten years, maintain a hardness below 60 and remain relatively stable. The elongation of mineral-oil-filled sealants drops significantly within the first two years, and debonding appears in some areas, while mineral-oil-free sealants perform steadily, with elongation decreasing slowly but still remaining above 100% after 10 years, as shown in Figures 5 and 6. ▲ Figure 5 Hardness of sealants as a function of time after natural weathering exposure ▲ Figure 6 Elongation at maximum strength of sealants as a function of time after natural weathering exposure As can be seen from the above charts, mineral-oil-filled sealant products exhibit a sharp increase in hardness over time and a cliff-like decline in elongation. This stands in stark contrast to the relatively gentle degradation curve of non-mineral-oil-filled sealants. In fact, in actual engineering projects, mineral-oil-filled sealant products can often be observed to exhibit hardening, cracking, and even adhesive failure within six months to two years, as shown in Figure 7. ▲ Figure 7 Cracking of mineral-oil-filled sealants in actual engineering projects within a short period The root cause of this phenomenon is that after the mineral oil volatilizes, the mineral-oil-filled sealant shrinks and hardens, completely losing its elasticity, resulting in total failure of sealing and adhesive functions. Chain Hazards: From Single Failure to Systemic Safety Risks More seriously, mineral-oil-filled sealants also cause systemic risks. That is, the migration risk of the mineral oil in such sealants not only leads to failure of the sealant itself, but also triggers a "chain reaction" in adjacent materials. The mineral oil migrating from mineral-oil-filled sealants can cause swelling and dissolution in adjacent materials, especially the butyl hot-melt sealant or thermoplastic spacer sealant in insulating glass systems, which is a primary reason for the overall failure of the insulating glass sealing system. The images at the beginning of this article are typical cases of this situation. Quality problems caused by mineral-oil-filled sealants only emerge after the mineral oil migrates and volatilizes, which typically takes some time—often six months or even several years after project commissioning. By then, it is impossible to confirm whether the initial sealant contained mineral oil. Since mineral oil can migrate between different materials, when the primary butyl hot-melt sealant in an insulating glass unit is dissolved, leading to seal failure and condensation/water accumulation, ordinary users lack the professional traceability capabilities to identify "mineral-oil-filled sealant" as the root cause. Even professionals find it difficult to determine whether the mineral oil detected in the sealant originated from the secondary sealant of the insulating glass unit or from the weatherproofing sealant, and thus cannot confirm the responsible party. Faced with huge losses and no recourse for claims, they can only bear significant economic losses and safety risks on their own, while their brand reputation also suffers severely. This elevates a single-material issue to an engineering safety problem of "material system compatibility." It is precisely because of the long-term hazards of mineral-oil-filled sealants that Baiyun Technology has always adhered to the iron rule of excluding mineral oil from its formulations. This is not conservatism, but a commitment based on scientific understanding of long-term material performance and a strong sense of responsibility for the safety of building systems. We have real weathering exposure data spanning 29 years since 1997 to prove:Only by eliminating mineral oil at the source can we fundamentally avoid problems such as oil migration in insulating glass units, cracking and failure of curtain wall and door/window sealants, and safeguard the long-term safety of every building.

Solvent-based adhesive: An adhesive that uses volatile organic solvents as the primary dispersion medium. Water-based adhesive: An adhesive that uses water as the dispersion medium, applied in specific fields. This article will not discuss it further. Bulk-type adhesive: An adhesive in which the content of the dispersion medium (volatile organic solvents or water) accounts for no more than 5% of the total. GB 33372-2020 Limit of Volatile Organic Compounds Content in Adhesives Solvent-based formulations contain a large amount of volatile organic solvents. During application, the solvents evaporate, allowing the adhesive to cure. Bulk-type adhesives, on the other hand, do not rely on solvent evaporation to cure. For example, one-component silicone sealants, silane-modified polyether sealants, and polyurethane sealants all cure through reaction with moisture in the air, transforming from a paste into an elastomer. A simple comparison: Bulk-type: High solid content, virtually no solvent, curing does not depend on volatilization, and volume remains relatively stable. Solvent-based: Contains a large amount of solvent, which evaporates during curing, resulting in significant volume shrinkage. Normally, silicone sealants should unequivocally fall into the bulk-type category. ⚠️ But why then do some products labeled as "solvent-based" silicone sealants appear on the market? Part 02 The "Bait-and-Switch" Three-Step Tactic of Unscrupulous Manufacturers Step 1: Adding large amounts of mineral oil under cost pressure Mineral oil is priced far lower than the main raw materials of sealants. Adding mineral oil can significantly reduce costs and also improve extrudability, making application smoother. But at what cost? Mineral oil does not participate in the curing reaction; it gradually migrates and evaporates. Once the mineral oil is gone, the sealant shrinks in volume, and cracking and debonding are only a matter of time. Cracking of window and door sealants and oil migration in insulating glass units Step 2: Exploiting loopholes in standards This is the most critical step. According to the national standard, bulk-type products require that the solvent or water content be within 5%. If a silicone sealant heavily filled with mineral oil is labeled as "bulk-type," it can easily be deemed non-compliant during spot checks due to exceeding the limit. As a result, some companies choose to classify their heavily mineral-oil-filled silicone sealant products under the "solvent-based" category. Why? Because the solvent-based standard has relatively lenient requirements for solvent content in sealants. Once mineral oil is classified as a "solvent" or "filler" here, it becomes less likely to be judged non-compliant due to excessive content. It should be noted that: This is not a flaw in the standard itself. The problem lies in the fact that some companies exploit the classification rules by placing silicone sealants that should not have been categorized as solvent-based into this category, thereby evading the stricter oversight applied to bulk-type products. Step 3: Misleading consumers with the "solvent-based" label When consumers see the words "solvent-based," most do not understand the nuances. They assume it is just a different product type that does not affect usability. But in reality, within the field of silicone sealants, a "solvent-based" label almost equates to telling you: this sealant contains a large amount of mineral oil. This is not a choice of technical route; it is a downgrade in quality. Part 03 The Hazards of Mineral-Oil-Filled Sealants – Why "Solvent-Based" Silicone Sealants Are Unacceptable We have already discussed in detail the hazards of mineral-oil-filled sealants in previous articles, so we will not repeat them here. In short: after the mineral oil migrates and evaporates, the sealant shrinks, cracks, and debonds, not only losing its sealing function but also potentially contaminating adjacent substrates, creating even greater engineering risks. Part 04 Consumer Guide to Avoiding Traps – Three Steps to Spot the "Standard Loophole" Step 1: Turn to the back of the packaging and find the section labeled "Product Type" or "Product Name." Step 2: Check whether it says "bulk-type" or "solvent-based." Step 3: If it says "solvent-based" – proceed with caution. It's that simple. No need to study complex parameters or decipher formulation sheets. One simple check will help you filter out the vast majority of problematic products on the market. To further identify whether mineral oil has been added to silicone sealants, you can also use the film test method, which is simple and convenient, allowing you to easily detect the presence of mineral oil in the sealant. Baiyun Technology solemnly promises: None of our currently available silicone sealants contain added mineral oil. It is not because we cannot produce solvent-based versions; it is because we choose not to. In this industry, refusing mineral-oil-filled products means choosing a more difficult path – higher costs, more complex processes, and stricter production controls.

Insulating glass unit oil migration, seal failure, curtain wall glass debonding, silicone sealant hardening and cracking... These alarming cases consistently reinforce one consensus: oil-filled sealants must be resolutely rejected. Many clients have thus breathed a sigh of relief: "As long as I avoid cheap oil-filled sealants, my project should be safe." But as a technology-driven player with over four decades of deep industry expertise, Baiyun Technology must tell you a harsher truth:Simply rejecting oil-filled products is far from sufficient. Even among products that are all "non-oil-filled," different brands and different formulations can still exhibit vastly different performance after 5, 10, 25, or even more years. Some sealants remain as flexible as ever after 25 years; others harden, become brittle, and suffer significant strength loss within just 3 years. This underlying gap is the true moat of Baiyun Technology. Today, we are not talking about the baseline—we are talking about the upper limit. Let us dive into the deep end of formulation technology and see how a "top-tier long-distance runner" is forged. 01 The Judgment of Time: "Survivorship Bias" in the Data In the laboratory, a few hundred hours of accelerated aging testing may make most products appear "comparable." But the service life of a building curtain wall spans decades. In the face of nature, short-term laboratory data can often be deceptive. It cannot replicate the complex combinations of natural environments, and therefore its results do not correlate with the actual in-service performance of sealants. Baiyun Technology launched the world's first 50-Year Durability Test for silicone sealants in 1997. ▲ Figure 1 Domestic exposure site for the 50-Year Durability Test ▲ Figure 2 Overseas exposure site for the 50-Year Durability Test At natural weathering exposure sites, a large number of specimens are subjected day after day to rigorous conditions including UV radiation, extreme temperatures, and rainfall, as shown in Figures 1 and 2. There is no acceleration here—only the passage of real time. We have uncovered an alarming fact:Many products that are indeed non-oil-filledstill exhibit significant performance degradation after 5 to 10 years of service. Sealants that were once elastic begin to harden and become brittle, losing their sealing and adhesion capabilities. At best, this leads to building water leakage; at worst, it poses a serious safety risk of glass falling during typhoons. To scientifically verify this issue, Baiyun Technology, within the framework of the 50-Year Durability Test, specifically designed comparative test protocols to conduct long-term, continuous monitoring of sealant performance across different specimens and different environmental conditions. During this continuous monitoring, the results clearly show that the performance degradation curves of sealants with different formulations differ significantly. ✅ Excellent Formulation (Baiyun Specimen) Silicone structural sealant specimens with excellent formulations (e.g., Specimen G) were exposed to different climatic conditions (G: Guangdong, O: Indoor, T: Turpan). Their tensile strength and elongation at maximum strength exhibited some variation, but overall remained relatively stable, as shown in Figure 3. ▲ Figure 3 Tensile strength and elongation at maximum strength of Specimen G as a function of aging time ❌ Ordinary Formulation (Other Brands) For silicone structural sealant specimens with certain other formulations (e.g., Specimens F and H), exposed to the same climatic conditions, a trend of decreasing strength and elasticity was observed, in some cases even falling below national standard requirements, as shown in Figure 4. ▲ Figure 4 Tensile strength and elongation at maximum strength of Specimens F and H as a function of aging time The above data raise the question:None of the formulations contain mineral oil, so why is the performance disparity so pronounced? The answer lies in the depths of formulation technology that most people never see. 02 Decoding the Black Box: The "Three Gates" of Formulation Technology Many mistakenly assume that sealant formulation is simply "cooking by recipe"—mixing raw materials in given proportions. This could not be further from the truth. Silicone sealant formulation is a complex systems engineering integrating organic chemistry, polymer physics, and rheology. The gap between top-tier performance and mediocrity stems from deep interplay across the following three dimensions. Gate One: Base Polymer The Soul of the Formulation—A Small Deviation Leads to a Vast Difference Silicone sealant is an elastomer formed by compounding and vulcanizing a linear polyorganosiloxane base polymer (gum) with crosslinkers, reinforcing fillers, and other compounding agents, as illustrated in Figure 5. Among these, the silicone base polymer is the soul of the sealant formulation system. ▲ Figure 5 Polymer based on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) Ordinary formulation: focuses only on viscosity—as long as the viscosity is adjusted to the right range, that suffices. Top-tier formulation: delves into the molecular weight distribution curve. An overly broad molecular weight distribution indicates an excess of low-molecular-weight chains. While this may improve initial extrudability, it compromises long-term mechanical properties and durability. Baiyun Technology precisely controls the polymer's molecular weight distribution to better enhance the mechanical properties and elongation of silicone sealants. Gate Two: Fillers and Additives Details Determine Success or Failure; Quantitative Changes Lead to Qualitative Changes Beyond the silicone base polymer—the soul of the sealant— other components such as fillers, crosslinkers, and catalysts are also critical in silicone sealants. Baiyun Technology achieves high performance and exceptional durability through the careful selection and optimized proportioning of fillers and additives. Gate Three: Precision Processing Translating Laboratory Formulations into Industrial Products Even with stringent raw material control and optimized formulation systems, without precision processing, it remains mere armchair strategy. Process control has a decisive impact on product uniformity and stability: The same formulation, produced via different manufacturing processes, can yield end products with vastly different performance. In 2002, Baiyun Technology developed China's first fully automatic continuous production line for silicone sealants with proprietary intellectual property, ensuring consistent product quality from batch to batch. 03 Product Logic: Delivering the "Most Gradual Performance Degradation Curve" In Baiyun Technology's technical philosophy, we are not merely producing a sealant; we are delivering decades of "certainty." Our goal is not just to be "non-oil-filled," but, through ongoing fundamental research, to achieve and maintain an optimal balance across multiple dimensions—weather resistance, mechanical properties, and workability. Accelerated aging tests, though rapid, cannot fully simulate the complexity of the real world (diurnal temperature variations, acid rain components, etc.). Baiyun's sustained heavy investment in the 50-Year Durability Test stems from our conviction that: Only real time can validate real formulations. Our long-term weathering exposure tests serve as the core tool for continuously screening, validating, and optimizing these "top-tier formulations." The authentic data we gather gives our building curtain wall projects greater confidence. When a client receives a Baiyun sealant, they are not just getting a sealant; they are receiving a long-term-validated "performance data package." We ensure that this sealant lies on the "most gradual and most predictable" performance degradation curve. What we sell is not adhesion at the moment of installation, but peace of mind for decades to come. 04 Staying True to Our Core: Raising the Industry Ceiling of Lasting Excellence "Non-oil-filled" is the safety baseline—the most fundamental requirement for sealant manufacturers. But formulation refinement is the ceiling of lasting excellence, and that is where a company's core competitiveness truly lies. How to further enhance aging resistance and adaptability to extreme environments, all while remaining non-oil-filled, has always been a direction of unremitting effort for Baiyun Technology. Architecture is frozen music, and sealants are those inconspicuous yet essential rests in the score. They are not conspicuous, but they determine whether the symphony can endure in harmony. Baiyun Technology refuses to rest in the comfort zone of "non-oil-filled." We will continue to explore the uncharted territory of formulation technology, leveraging deep chemical expertise and a long-termist commitment to continually push the limits of silicone sealant performance and service life.

It has become a clear dividing line that measures corporate values and profoundly anchors the future direction of the enterprise. Baiyun Technology firmly stands on the side of the "guardians." We regard every order as a weighty trust, honor every contract with resolute commitment, treat standards as an inviolable red line, and make quality a belief ingrained in our very being. 01 Order as Trust: Building Development on a Foundation of Confidence Looking back at Baiyun Technology's early days, the domestic sealant market was completely dominated by foreign brands, and the path to growth was strewn with obstacles. Thanks to the discerning vision and unwavering trust of many customers, Baiyun was given the opportunity to demonstrate its product strength and service value. Through the accumulation of one successful project after another, we gradually broke through, entered broader markets, and ultimately grew into an industry leader. Over more than four decades of journeying through wind and rain, Baiyun Technology has never forgotten its original aspiration: an order is never simply a transaction of goods for money; it is the profound trust that clients place in the brand. This trust admits no negligence; this entrustment cannot be betrayed in the slightest. 02 Contract as Commitment: Upholding Responsibility through Steadfastness During the industry's deep adjustment cycles, raw material prices fluctuate and cost pressures continue to mount. The "shortcuts" of using oil-filled sealants, adding pyrolysis oil, or incorporating high-boiling materials may appear to be a "reluctant choice" for many companies. But Baiyun Technology has always remained clear-headed: a contract specifies not only delivery quantities and timelines, but also carries a solemn commitment to product performance, long-term durability, and the mitigation of potential risks. This commitment concerns building safety and the long-term interests of our clients, and must never be compromised by short-term survival pressures. Therefore, even in the industry's most difficult moments, Baiyun Technology has always resolutely rejected oil-filled sealants, refused to use pyrolysis oil, and avoided high-boiling materials. This is not a temporary posture, but a steadfast adherence to the spirit of the contract and a commitment to business ethics – we will never trade irreversible safety hazards for immediate gains, leaving them to our clients or to any building. 03 Standard as Yardstick: Guiding Industry Development through Regulation If self-discipline is the intrinsic driver of a company's upward growth, then standards are the baseline measure for the healthy development of an industry. As a leader in China's silicone sealant industry, Baiyun Technology has always taken it upon itself to promote the standardization of the industry, proactively assuming the responsibility of regulating industry order. To date, BAIYUN has participated in the drafting and revision of over 270 international, national, and industry standards, including more than 90 national standards, covering all areas of the sealant industry, leading industry iteration and consolidation through standardization. Moreover, BAIYUN has led the preparation and participated in the revision of over 10 international standards, continuously promoting Chinese sealant standards to the global stage, helping China's sealant industry gain a voice in the international arena and demonstrating the strength of "Intelligent Manufacturing in China." With regard to the prominent industry issue of oil-filled sealants, Baiyun Technology has taken proactive measures, actively promoting the upgrade of GB/T 14683-2017 Silicone and Modified Silicone Sealants for Building to clearly define the limits on white oil content. In response to the industry pain point that oil-filled sealants are difficult to visually identify, Baiyun Technology's technical team overcame challenges to develop a simple and practical film test method for oil-filled sealants, and promoted it as a group standard, achieving a breakthrough in rapid identification. 04 Quality as Soul: Forging an Enduring Brand with Conviction For Baiyun Technology, refusing oil-filled sealants, pyrolysis oil, and high-boiling materials has never been a gimmick to stand out. Rather, it is a respect for scientific principles, a reverence for engineering safety, a guardian of clients' long-term interests, a commitment to the healthy development of the industry, and above all, an ultimate faith in quality. We are fully aware that the failure of oil-filled sealants often does not manifest immediately, but lurks one, two, or more years later. Once failure occurs, it leads to serious problems such as building leakage and structural damage – consequences that are irreversible. For this reason, Baiyun Technology has always treated quality as a systematic endeavor: from rigorous raw material selection and scientific formulation design, to meticulous process control, and then to optimization of testing methods and standard setting – every step adheres to a long-term perspective, rejecting short-term profit orientation. In 2025, Baiyun Technology received the Guangzhou Mayor Quality Award. This honor is a strong affirmation of our quality management system and development path, and even more, a recognition of our value orientation – it proves that by rejecting "shortcuts," a company can still win dual recognition from the market and society through sustained technological investment and accumulation. At the crossroads between short-term temptations and long-term value, Baiyun Technology, as a steadfast "guardian," resolutely walks the more honorable path. Rejecting oil-filled sealants, pyrolysis oil, and high-boiling materials has long surpassed a mere technical choice; it has become a quality commitment and a responsibility ingrained in the very soul of our enterprise.

Founded in 1985, Baiyun Technology, through four decades of intensive R&D, has accomplished the technological breakthrough of alkoxy sealants from 0 to 1 and from 1 to N, writing a brand legend in China's sealant industry from following to leading. From 0 to 1: Shouldering Industry Responsibility in a Vacuum In the 1980s and 1990s, China's sealant market was monopolized by European and American brands, and alkoxy sealant technology was strictly blocked. The industry could only rely on highly irritating and corrosive acid sealants, falling into a difficult position. Baiyun Technology's R&D team took on the mission of developing China's own alkoxy sealants, overcoming core barriers such as independent catalyst synthesis and formulation optimization. In 1992, they took the lead in industrializing alkoxy sealant technology and successfully developed China's first industrialized SS601 silicone sealant, completely breaking foreign technological monopolies and filling the domestic industry gap. From 1 to N: Empowering Industry Development Across All Scenarios In the 21st century, China's urbanization accelerated, and multiple sectors such as new energy and industrial manufacturing developed rapidly, imposing higher and more comprehensive requirements on sealant scenario adaptability. Based on its alkoxy sealant technology, Baiyun Technology took the lead in achieving full-scenario coverage in both the construction and industrial sectors. On the construction side, it built a product matrix covering curtain wall systems, insulating glass, window and door systems, prefabricated construction, and interior decoration. On the industrial side, it completed the application of core alkoxy sealant technology in energy, transportation, 5G communications & electronics, and other fields, achieving comprehensive adaptation to sealing needs across thousands of industries. From Good to Excellent: Green Upgrades Upholding Quality Commitment In the new era, the dual carbon strategy is being comprehensively promoted, and the industry has raised higher requirements for the green attributes and construction efficiency of sealing materials. Baiyun Technology's R&D team took up the baton, building on over thirty years of technological accumulation in alkoxy sealants, always keeping green and health as the core of R&D. They focused on the industry pain point of slow curing and achieved a technological breakthrough, leading domestic alkoxy sealant technology to a higher level. To address the long-standing industry pain point of slow curing of alkoxy sealants, Baiyun Technology improved polymers and catalytic systems, successfully developing fast-curing alkoxy technology, which thoroughly resolves the chronic issues of slow winter construction and long curing periods. This technological breakthrough, while maintaining the core advantages of green and health of alkoxy sealants, achieves both health and efficiency, truly enabling the pursuit of efficiency without sacrificing health. It is suitable not only for diverse core scenarios such as construction engineering and industrial manufacturing, but also for daily sealing needs in household decoration. From technological breakthrough to full-scenario enablement, and then to green upgrading, Baiyun Technology has always adhered to its core values of "Shouldering Responsibility, Creating Value, and Sharing Results."

Silicone structural sealant serves as the sole load-transfer path, conveying various loads from the glass panels to the building's main structure. Precisely for this reason, building owners and designers need more than just a promise of "long-lasting durability"—they want a quantifiable answer: How many years can this product safeguard my building? To answer this question, a scientific bridge must be built between the laboratory and the real world. In actual service, silicone structural sealant is simultaneously subjected to temperature, humidity, UV radiation, and mechanical stress induced by wind loads—four factors acting in concert, varying with day-night cycles and seasonal changes. Accelerated artificial aging, in the laboratory, elevates these factors to levels more severe than natural environments, thereby simulating, in a relatively short time, the performance changes that would otherwise occur over long-term service. Previously, although many attempted to establish single-factor or multi-factor accelerated aging methods for silicone structural sealants, the accelerated laboratory results consistently failed to correlate with real-world aging performance, making it difficult to establish a reliable acceleration correlation. In 2025, a prestigious research institution published a paper titled "Durability Test and Service Life Prediction Method for Silicone Structural Sealants" in the journal Buildings, introducing a novel approach to sealant life prediction. Through laboratory accelerated aging tests, the researchers simulated the superposition of multiple environmental stresses that the sealant endures in actual service environments—temperature, humidity, mechanical stress, and UV irradiance intensity. These four factors were incorporated into a multi-gradient matrix of combined test conditions, enabling a comprehensive analysis of both the individual and synergistic effects of each factor. However, laboratory acceleration alone is insufficient. The accelerated laboratory results require a "time scale" for calibration. That scale comes from long-term natural weathering exposure data. Test specimens undergo seasonal temperature alternations in real natural environments, withstand the combined effects of solar radiation, rain, and cyclic loading, with environmental changes continuously recorded at high-density intervals. It is through the calibration and correlation of laboratory accelerated aging data with long-term natural exposure data that the researchers established an aging mathematical model for the sealant, thereby scientifically projecting the expected service life of the material under specific service environments. Reliability verification of the prediction method: Mean absolute error: 0.0187 MPa Relative error: < 2% Natural exposure validation: 3 years Encouragingly, the reliability of this prediction method has been verified by actual measurements. Comparing the model predictions with 3-year natural exposure test data, the two are in close agreement, with a mean absolute error of only 0.0187 MPa—given that sealant strength typically exceeds 1.0 MPa, the relative error is less than 2%. This substantiates the scientific validity and accuracy of the method. Hard-Data Validation: Baiyun Product Achieves an Expected Service Life of 65 Years The study selected two silicone structural sealants from two leading industry manufacturers for life prediction research, including one conventional commercial product from Baiyun Technology. Using the U.S. standard ASTM C1184 Standard Specification for Silicone Structural Sealants as the failure criterion for service life prediction, the results showed that premium products from advanced industry players can achieve an expected service life exceeding 30 years—already far surpassing the baseline expectation of "25-year quality assurance," demonstrating the solid technical capabilities of both companies. As for Baiyun Technology's product, leveraging high-quality raw materials, an advanced formulation system, and state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, the model-predicted service life has surpassed the 50-year design service life of building structures, reaching 65 years. This provides a substantial safety margin for curtain walls to withstand decades of climatic challenges, including typhoons and extreme temperature differentials. The Deeper Value of 65 Years: Beyond Safety Safety ValueFar exceeding conventional design life, it offers ample safety redundancy for buildings facing climatic challenges over the coming decades. In the face of typhoons, torrential rain, extreme temperature swings, and other severe weather, the curtain wall structure remains reliably protected. Whole-Life-Cycle EconomySubstantially reduces direct costs of repair and replacement, indirect downtime costs, and secondary construction risks, significantly optimizing total cost of ownership (TCO). Sealant "failure" often entails expensive inspection, maintenance, or even full replacement—these potential future expenditures are fundamentally minimized at the source with a 65-year product. Green and Low-Carbon ContributionLong service life is the ultimate form of energy conservation and environmental protection. It reduces replacement frequency from the outset, lowering life-cycle carbon emissions and construction waste—a solid commitment to sustainable development principles. Brand Commitment: Science as the Measure for a Century of Building This series of articles systematically presents the research methodology, identifies specific risks, analyzes performance variations, and ultimately achieves life prediction—completing a scientific evaluation framework for the long-term reliability of sealants. Baiyun Technology's "50-Year Durability Test" is no marketing gimmick; it is an open, long-term, and systematic scientific research program. Its purpose is to transform product long-term reliability from a mere "promise" into a "quantifiable, verifiable, and predictable" scientific fact. From producing China's first industrialized silicone sealant in 1992, to today achieving a 65-year expected service life, Baiyun Technology has consistently acted as the pioneer and leader in China's silicone sealant industry, driving the establishment of industry standards and advancing technological progress.
