In 2012, BAIYUN launched the "50-year durability test of silicone sealant" in cooperation with the Aging Research Institute of Guangzhou Synthetic Materials Research Institute, and put silicone sealant samples in the exposure test field next to the Flaming Mountain in Turpan, Xinjiang. This kind of problem occurs because the oil-filled sealant contains alkane plasticizers (also known as white oil). These alkane plasticizers will migrate and diffuse out, and lead to a sealant of the insulating glass through the second structural adhesive of the insulating glass. Butyl gum was dissolved. This usually leads to the destruction of the air tightness of the insulating glass. It is foreseeable that if this kind of oil-filled sealant is used in the building, it will inevitably lead to the complete failure of the insulating glass under long-term use, resulting in problems such as condensation, accumulation of water, and oxidation of the Low-E film, which will cause the insulating glass to lose its effectiveness. It should have the functions of energy saving and heat preservation, light transmission and heat insulation.
Sample test description: According to "Test Method for Indentation Hardness of Vulcanized Rubber or Thermoplastic Rubber" GB/T 531-2009, use a Shore durometer to test the hardness of the sealant strip samples.

Conclusion: The hardness of the normal weather-resistant sealant remains good. The initial hardness of SS811 is 35, and the current hardness is 41. After 8 years of aging, the hardness has increased to a certain extent, but the increase is not large, and it still has good elasticity, which can continue to escort the curtain wall. .
The hardness of the oil-filled sealant changes greatly, from the initial 30 to 65 in 2 years, and to 79 after 8 years. It has no elasticity and cannot play a sealing role.
Weathering Sealant Tensile Testing
Sample test instructions: Cut the weather-resistant sealant strip into a dumbbell-shaped test piece. The tensile test of dumbbell-shaped specimens is based on "Determination of Tensile Stress-Strain Properties of Vulcanized Rubber or Thermoplastic Rubber" GB/T 528-2009, made into dumbbell-shaped specimens, and tested on a tensile testing machine (the test environment temperature is 23 ℃ ).

Conclusion: The average tensile strength of SS811 silicone weather-resistant sealant is 2.25MPa, and the elongation at break is 665.5%. The sealant sample still has good elasticity.
