It should have the functions of energy saving and heat preservation, light transmission and heat insulation. 03 Sample test Hardness Testing Sample test description: According to "Test Method for Indentation Hardness of Vulcanized Rubber or Thermoplastic Rubber" GB/T 531-2009, use a Shore durometer to test the hardness of the sealant strip samples. Sample test data: Conclusion: The hardness of the normal weather-resistant sealant remains good. The initial hardness of SS811 is 35, and the current hardness is 41. After 8 years of aging, the hardness has increased to a certain extent, but the increase is not large, and it still has good elasticity, which can continue to escort the curtain wall. . The hardness of the oil-filled sealant changes greatly, from the initial 30 to 65 in 2 years, and to 79 after 8 years. It has no elasticity and cannot play a sealing role. Weathering Sealant Tensile Testing Sample test instructions: Cut the weather-resistant sealant strip into a dumbbell-shaped test piece. The tensile test of dumbbell-shaped specimens is based on "Determination of Tensile Stress-Strain Properties of Vulcanized Rubber or Thermoplastic Rubber" GB/T 528-2009, made into dumbbell-shaped specimens, and tested on a tensile testing machine (the test environment temperature is 23 ℃ ). Sample test data- Tensile Data for SS811 Silicone Weather Resistant Sealant Conclusion: The average tensile strength of SS811 silicone weather-resistant sealant is 2.25MPa, and the elongation at break is 665.5%.       The outer protection structure of modern buildings generally no longer uses traditional brick walls and block bricks, but uses architectural curtain walls. Building curtain walls include glass curtain walls, stone curtain walls, aluminum curtain walls, ceramic board curtain walls, clay board curtain walls, metal board curtain walls, fiber cement board curtain walls and other board curtain walls. Building curtain walls have many advantages such as beautiful appearance, energy saving, and easy maintenance. The joints between the panels need to be sealed with silicone weathering sealants. Silicone weathering sealant needs to withstand the displacement of the joint width caused by the external environment (thermal expansion and contraction of the plate material, displacement of the main structure, etc.) caused by the external environment of the building joint during the application process. This requires the silicone weather-resistant sealant to have a good ability to withstand joint displacement, and to withstand long-term joint width changes without cracking. The displacement ability of silicone weathering sealant is generally 20, 25, 35, 50, 100/-50, etc. For example, level 35 is able to withstand changes in the width of the sealant gap between ±35%. When the silicone weathering sealant is directly exposed outdoors, it must be able to ensure the air-tightness and water-tightness of the curtain wall for a long time. It has very high requirements for its key technical indicators such as elasticity (displacement capacity) and aging resistance.     In the context of the current price increase of raw materials, a considerable number of oil-extended silicone weather-resistant sealant products have appeared on the market, attracting users at low prices. After 5000 hours of UV aging and 70°C, 14 days of heat aging, the oil-extended sealant exhibits a decrease in elasticity and an increase in hardness. The performance decline is very obvious. It cannot meet the corresponding standard requirements of sealants and will directly cause serious quality problems and even safety to users. Hidden danger!     In today's article, we will give you a detailed introduction to the hazards of oil-extended silicone weathering sealants, and share the "film method" of identifying oil-extended adhesives and the performance of oil-extended silicone weathering sealants on the film. 1. The harm of oil-filled silicone weatherproofing sealant     The oil-filling of silicone weather-resistant sealant will cause cracking, chalking, hardening, and oil flow problems of the weather-resistant sealant, leading to premature failure of the sealant, resulting in water leakage and air leakage in the curtain wall, increased energy consumption, and affecting normal use. If the plastic film is not flat, the probability of adding mineral oil is very high. The sealant that has been applied and cured can also be qualitatively identified by this method within a period of time after the sealant is applied. （1） For the unopened sealant, hit it on a flat plastic film into a "mouth" shape, and scrape it evenly to the thickness of about 1-3mm, and observe the flatness of the film after 24 hours.               figure 6 Film test comparison between oil-filled (left) and non-oil-filled sealant (right)     Looking at the results the next day, the surface of the film on the left is not flat, and the probability of adding mineral oil to the sealant in contact with it is very high. On the contrary, the film on the right side remains flat, and the sealant in contact with it is not filled with oil. The more oil-filled, the more obvious the film shrinks.     Collected 6 different brands of silicone weather-resistant sealant samples from the market, and tested them with the film method. If further confirmation is required, it can be sent to the corresponding testing agency to use the national standard testing method for further identification.     Through sample collection and testing, the author found that some silicone sealant manufacturers on the market have adopted extremely irresponsible practices by mixing weather-resistant sealants with a considerable amount of cheap mineral oil instead of expensive organic silicon raw materials. To achieve the purpose of reducing production costs and obtaining market price advantages, it does not consider the serious quality problems and safety hazards caused by the decline in product quality. The user must be careful to identify during the selection process, and do not use these oil-extended sealants to cause losses.  

What is the performance of glass curtain wall sealant after 25 years? How many years can curtain wall sealant be used safely?     BAIYUN responds with practical actions, and takes the lead in pioneering the industry in the research of natural exposure and aging. As early as 1997, a 50-year-old glass curtain wall was built in the company square, and the aging resistance performance data of the curtain wall sealant was regularly obtained from it. The glass curtain wall sealant is made of Baiyun brand SS621 silicone structural sealant and SS611 silicone weather-resistant sealant. It has passed the three-property test with a safety inspection wind pressure of 6000Pa taken by the Guangdong Provincial Construction Engineering Quality and Safety Supervision and Inspection Station, reaching the national first-class level. . Up to now, the curtain wall has been exposed to the natural environment for 25 years (1997-2022).     So, 25 years later, what is the performance of this glass curtain wall sealant? Recently, BAIYUN commissioned a third-party testing agency to select a unit panel for the curtain wall to conduct systematic testing. Next, let us take a closer look at the process of dismantling, sampling, testing and installation of this 25-year-old curtain wall: 01 Select a single unit and cut the weather-resistant sealant around the glass panel 02 Remove the fastening screws and pressing blocks of the attached frame and the main beam, and remove the assembly of the glass and the sub-frame. 03 Cut 5 pieces of 5cm long attached frames for pull test. 04 Cut a 50cm length of structural sealant as a sample for the rebonding method. 05 Bond the attachment frame back to the glass with epoxy glue, structural sealant, and U-shaped aluminum strips. 06 Install the glass and sub-frame assembly back on the curtain wall, and apply weather-resistant sealant around it. 07 Keep records and labels.     During the test of the existing curtain wall sealant, the re-bonding method and the pull-out test method were adopted for the silicone structural sealant, and the maximum strength was obtained through the two test methods, which can be used to comprehensively evaluate the performance of the structural sealant; For the silicone weather-resistant sealant, the Shore hardness test method and the hand-pulled 100% elastic recovery rate peel test were adopted to evaluate the performance of the weather-resistant sealant. Final test result: After 25 years of natural aging, the performance of Baiyun Chemical Curtain Wall Sealant can still fully meet the requirements of relevant national standards.

Application of polyurethane potting sealant in PCB industry     With the development of industry, the application of electronic components is more and more extensive. At the same time, the application of potting compounds, which play a key role in protecting electronic components, is becoming more and more common. Potting sealant can be found in various industries such as automotive electronics, military aviation, medical equipment, household appliances, power supplies, and new energy.     Due to the existence of a large amount of moisture, oxygen, dust and mold in the external environment, electronic components exposed to air or some special acid-base environments for a long time are prone to oxidation and corrosion. Potting sealant can largely isolate the influence of the external environment on electronic circuits, thereby greatly extending the service life of electronic components.     From the application side, the potting compound usually used for electronic components needs to have single or multiple functions such as sealing, potting, bonding, coating, and heat dissipation. There are many types of potting adhesives on the market. The mainstream products are mainly silicone potting adhesives, polyurethane potting adhesives, epoxy potting adhesives, UV potting adhesives, etc. The potting adhesives of different materials have different characteristics and uses. In this issue, let us delve into the "rules of use" of one of the most widely used potting compounds, polyurethane potting compounds. Features of Polyurethane Encapsulant     Polyurethane encapsulant is a two-component AB sealant consisting of a curing agent or prepolymer with isocyanate groups, a hydroxyl polyol or prepolymer containing active hydrogen, and some functional additives and fillers. The mass ratio is usually 1-5:1. Since the molecular structure of the polyurethane itself contains both flexible and rigid segments, it can be adjusted in a wide range, so the hardness of the polyurethane potting compound can be as low as 5 Shore A, or as high as 70-80 Shore D. At the same time, the corresponding bulk tensile strength can be in the range of 0.5-15.0 MPa. The mechanical properties of polyurethane encapsulant are between silicone and epoxy, with moderate hardness, excellent waterproof performance and electrical insulation.     In addition, the temperature range of polyurethane encapsulant is generally between -60 ℃ to 120 ℃, the high temperature resistance is not as good as that of silicone and epoxy, and the low temperature resistance is comparable to that of silicone, which is better than epoxy. Polyurethane potting adhesives have outstanding bonding properties and have good bonding effects on most substrates. Its bonding strength is higher than that of silicone, and it is not as strong as epoxy sealant and not easy to rework. Therefore, polyurethane encapsulants can be given priority to applications where adhesive performance is the main requirement. However, polyurethane encapsulant also has the disadvantage of excessive air bubbles. It is easy to generate bubbles during the two-component mixing process. Unlike silicone oil, which has a defoaming function, its own viscosity causes the bubbles to rise to the surface for a long time. Especially, the high-viscosity polyurethane encapsulant needs to be vacuumed to achieve defoaming. Points for attention in the use of polyurethane potting sealant     Due to the composition of the polyurethane potting compound, the isocyanate group in the curing agent is easily reacted with water vapor to generate CO2, so that gas remains in the colloid after curing. Bake to remove moisture. When mixing, it should be fully mixed according to the proportion recommended in the product specification. Otherwise, too many curing agent components will cause excess isocyanate groups to react with the infiltrated water vapor and generate CO2 gas, making the cured There are bubbles in the colloid, and if the curing agent component is too small, there will be insufficient curing or even no curing.     It should also be noted that once the packaging material is opened, it is recommended that users use it up at one time or as soon as possible.
