Baiyun Technology Attends the 49th Annual Meeting of the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee on Building Sealants (ISO/TC59/SC8)

    In late October 2024, the 49th annual meeting of ISO/TC59/SC8 (International Organization for Standardization/Technical Committee on Building and Civil Engineering/Subcommittee on Sealant) will be held in Osaka, Japan. 21 experts from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Japan, and South Korea attended the meeting. Zhang Guanqi, Technical Director of Guangzhou Baiyun Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Baiyun Technology"), was invited to attend the meeting and give a keynote speech.

    At the meeting, the attending experts introduced the progress of relevant work since the last annual meeting and discussed future work.
    Zhang Guanqi, Technical Director of Baiyun Technology, as the convener of the WG10 "Aesthetic Issues" working group, introduced the progress stage of the ISO 19067 "Building sealants - Determination of color change after accelerated aging in the laboratory" standard that is currently being developed, the registration of experts in the working group, the voting situation of the WD (Working Group Draft) draft, and the results of the verification test. This project has entered the CD (Committee Draft) voting stage, and the voting will end at the end of October. The attending experts reviewed the CD draft, and the subsequent preparation team will make revisions to the CD draft based on the revision suggestions raised at the meeting and the opinions collected during the CD draft voting process, and form the DIS draft before the end of the year.
The work of the WG1 "UV Effects" working group is to revise the ISO 11431:2002 standard "Building Structures - Jointing Products - Determination of Bonding Properties after Heat, Water, and Artificial Light Source Treatment through Glass". Currently, the standard has entered the DIS voting stage and will be revised based on feedback before entering the approval stage.

    The WG25 "Mold proof Sealing Adhesive Specification" working group is a newly established working group in 2024, with the task of developing a standard for grading and requirements of mold proof sealing adhesive. The standard is currently in the draft stage of the WD working group, where experts discussed the classification principles and required items. The subsequent preparation team will continue to advance the writing work and vote on the WD draft as soon as possible.
The preparatory work team for the coating ability of sealant introduced the preliminary research work and standard draft. Subsequently, the WG19 "Coating Ability and Compatibility with Coatings" working group will be restarted to promote the standard preparation work.

In addition, the conference also conducted a review of standards such as ISO 11527, ISO 13640, ISO 16938-1, and ISO 16938-2.
    Standardization work is crucial for the high-quality development of China's economy, and the government encourages enterprises to actively participate in domestic and international standardization work. As a national enterprise in the Chinese sealant industry, Baiyun Technology has spared no effort in participating in the formulation and revision of various sealant related standards at home and abroad. As of August 2024, Baiyun Technology has participated in the formulation and revision of over 240 standards, of which 189 have been successfully published.
    International standardization and internationalization of standards are important directions for China's standardization work in the new era. Baiyun Technology has been actively supporting the revision of international standards in the sealant industry. Not only does it send experts to attend the ISO/TC59/SC8 annual meeting every year, but it also successfully co organized the 43rd ISO/TC59/SC8 annual meeting held in Guangzhou in 2018, becoming the only Chinese sealant enterprise to co organize the meeting. Over the years, experts from Baiyun Technology have participated in multiple ISO sealant standard working groups (WGs), including the leading ISO 13638:2021 standard. They have participated in the development, revision, and successful publication of over 10 ISO standards.
    In the future, Baiyun Technology will continue to vigorously promote the revision of international standards for sealants, and represent China on the stage of international standards for sealants, contributing to the internationalization of Chinese standards, the internationalization of Chinese sealant brands, and their global presence.
